Update (4:15pm): the National Weather Service has canceled the winter storm watch for Louisa, Fluvanna, Goochland and Powhatan, reflecting new model guidance that reduces the impact from Saturday's storm system.
New model data is in, and I feel fairly confident that tomorrow's system will only bring any real accumulations to areas west of 95. It appears Goochland, Powhatan, and Louisa will be about as far east as any accumulating snows will reach;
a winter storm watch has been issued for those area due to the possibility of several inches of snow/sleet before the whole state changes to rain by Saturday night into Sunday morning. Temperatures on Sunday could hit the mid 50s in spots, which no doubt will feel like welcome relief from this arctic siege we’ve been under for the last two weeks.
Looking ahead to next week, the overall pattern will remain cold and stormy over the eastern U.S. but no imminent winter storm threats for us to speak of just yet.
