There’s always going to be something wrong with a winter forecast, no matter how right you think you may be. In this case, it’s the dreaded “dry slot” that really eats into snow totals depending when and where it appears. Usually, at least one model will pick up on it at some point shortly before or during the system, but not this time. And now we’re seeing it appear out to our west, behind that yellow line:
This would mean only a few more hours of snowfall, resulting in us falling a bit short of 8-10” that were forecast. It’s certainly still possible that more snow may sneak in still out of West Virginia, behind this dry gap, but it’s also just as likely that we may be heading towards an expedited end of this snow.
