Winter Storm Watch posted; significant snow likely

A Winter Storm Watch is now in effect for our area through Tuesday afternoon. I just looked at fresh model data and it continues to confirm what they’ve been indicating for two to three days now, a significant snow for the majority of central Virginia, including Richmond. I feel confident enough to adjust my numbers upward a bit, to 6-10” for Richmond (right around 8” on average) and surrounding counties. Snow will begin in our area Monday late afternoon (5pm or so), reach its peak late Monday night/early Tuesday and taper off around 10 or 11 on Tuesday morning. Because of the snowpack, expect temperatures to struggle out of the teens, and wind chills will again dip to zero or below for the rest of the week.
