Potential for strong storms this evening

Much of Virginia is under a SLIGHT RISK for severe storms today, mainly later this afternoon into the evening (probably between 5 and 9pm). With high heat and humidity, combined with abundant wind shear, there is an elevated risk for severe storms with damaging winds and isolated tornadoes, in addition to hail and torrential rain. A few more storms are possible overnight into tomorrow morning but are not likely to be as intense.
