Potential travel issues Monday morning

Here’s how I see Monday’s storm system unfolding for Richmond and counties along 95:

  1. Precip begins late Sunday night/early Monday morning as snow; snow continues until about noon; snow accumulations of 1-3” for Richmond area
  2. Snow changes to a period of sleet/freezing rain for the afternoon hours, with minor accumulations possible
  3. Sleet/freezing rain changes over to all rain by Monday evening, with temperatures rising to above freezing into Tuesday; any accumulations will melt

Because of the warm air arriving Monday late afternoon/evening, the worst of this system will be confined to the morning hours of Monday. Temperatures will be at or below freezing during this time and roads will deteriorate until warmer air arrives later in the day.
