Cold rain and wind the story to kick off the new week

I'm no longer expecting much if any snow not just this Sunday but for the Monday night/Tuesday system as well. The favored track will be too far inland, and thus allow warmer air on the southeast side of the low to swing into the Richmond area. This means mostly rain (and windy conditions) for us and areas east of 95, perhaps with a brief period of snow on the backside of the storm as it exits mid-morning on Tuesday. But nothing that will be disruptive for travel. On the other hand, areas to our northwest could see significant snow, especially as you head up into Washington D.C. and Winchester.

The cold will linger the rest of this coming week, but there are signs that the pattern may shift back to a milder one after next weekend.
