Snow a dud this Sunday; another chance mid week

Having had a chance to look over the latest model data, it’s a pretty good bet at this point that we won’t see much, if anything, on Sunday from this next system. The cold air will be in place, to be sure, but the main low pressure center will slide by well to our south, keeping the precipitation down in the Carolinas, with only flurries or light snow showers for us (amounting to only a dusting to an inch or two).

But first, we’ll deal with some light showers moving through Friday morning, gone by noon or shortly thereafter. Clouds and much chillier temperatures will linger through the weekends, only getting into the low 40s and overnight lows in the 20s.

Not much better next week: highs in the 40s, and another storm system to watch for Monday and Tuesday, that could bring several inches of snow to western portions of central Virginia (the location of that all-important rain/snow line is yet to be determined) with possibly heavy rain along and east of 95.
