Severe storms possible Thursday

Sunny and quite warm (almost summer-like) today and Wednesday with high pressure in control but big changes are on the way to end the week. A strong storm system out in the plains will slide our way Thursday, and several ingredients are in place that would allow for strong to severe thunderstorms to develop Thursday morning into early afternoon. The Storm Prediction Center has central and eastern Virginia under an “Enhanced” risk for severe thunderstorms. The main threats from any storms that develop will be damaging winds, hail, and isolated tornadoes. The threat will be centered over the I-95 corridor, eastward to Virginia Beach/Hampton Roads.
